Car Park Guidance

Opening times

Car park operating times are 8am to 6pm.

Overnight parking

Overnight parking is permitted in the Sylvan coach park for coaches, lorries and motorhomes, Edale and Castleton village car parks for coaches and motorhomes. While overnight parking is allowed, customers must leave their vehicles and not sleep in them.

Pay and display

Pay and display is required every day including bank holidays. Pay and display tickets are not transferable between vehicles but are transferable between High Peak Borough Council car parks. Residents on-street parking schemes are operated by Derbyshire County Council, permits can be requested and by contacting permits.parking@nottscc.gov.uk. Season tickets for council car parks are available.

Please note that all our car park ticket machines currently only accept 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins and do not give change.

Blue Badge

High Peak Borough Council offers free parking for Blue Badge holders on its car parks across the Borough. There are a few restrictions as follows :-

  • Park within the bay marking lines
  • Display your Blue badge clearly on the dashboard
  • If using a short stay car park, please display the clock set at the time of arrival next to the Blue Badge and ensure that you do not exceed the maximum stay of the car park

If there are no Blue Badge holder bays available you can use the standard parking bays which are a little narrower.

Motorhomes or Large Vehicle

There are no designated spaces for these types of vehicles. Smaller examples may park in the car parks, where height barriers allow, but will need to purchase and display two pay and display tickets if using up two bays (if you are in doubt then please buy two tickets). Please be aware that if parking your motorhome or large vehicle on the car parks, that there is a weight restriction of 3500kgs.

Larger motorhomes and vans should use the coach parks and pay the coach price and drivers will need to contact us to give the vehicle registration number and the date of the visit to gain permission.

Motorcyles

We do not have specific motorcycle bays in our car parks, motorcycles need to park in a marked parking bay and pay the vehicle charge as shown on the tariff board.

If more than one motorcycle is parked in the bay only one pay and display ticket would need to be bought, we would advise owners to carry the ticket with them and produce it should they be issued a Penalty Charge Notice.
