Employ Local Grants

If you are a Derbyshire based SME and have employed or propose to to take on a new local person then you could be eligible for funding:

Funding available includes:

  1. £1,000 - Apprentices start grant (only for smes who have not had another apprentice in last 3 years)
  2. £800 for training and employment grant (for any 19+ new employees who you employ for 13+ weeks & who are undertaking recognised training or apprenticeship)
  3. £400 - 4 week job-sustainment grant  (for any new employee taken on if previously not working)  
  4. £400 - 24 week job sustainment grant (in addition to 4-week grant)

Maximum 4 grants per business. 

Unemployment status is by declaration so can also include people not claiming benefits but who weren't working for at least one day prior to start.

Eligibility

The eligibility for the grants is laid out below, please check this carefully before completing any of the claim forms:

  • The new employee is to be aged 19 or older upon start date with the employer
  • The employer must be based within Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire
  • The employer must be an SME (employs less than 249 staff) and not have claimed over €200,000 in last 3 years (state aid)
  • The start date must be within 2018
  • The Apprenticeship start grant is only payable if you have not had an Apprentice in the last 3 years - if you have had another apprentice, claim under 13-week recruit & grant grant.
