Ambitious plans for a new health, care and public services hub in Buxton town centre have moved a step closer after funding to develop a business case was secured.
High Peak Borough Council has prioritised the regeneration the former Nestle Waters (UK) Ltd bottling plant off Station Road and is working in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) to provide new, central facilities on the site.
The site was bought by the Trust last year and partners met there to view plans and discuss the project after securing £100,000 from the Government's One Public Estate programme to develop the business case.
Councillor Tony Ashton, Leader of the Borough Council, said: "This is a prime site close to Buxton town centre - the ideal location for a health and public services hub of the kind we and our partners are planning.
"I'm delighted that together we are making good progress on realising this exciting vision to provide the modern and efficient front line services that people rely on together in one place and in new, purpose built facilities.
"The next step is to develop a detailed business case and to ensure that the potential for this project to help achieve other local priorities, such as increasing car parking capacity in the town centre, is fully explored."
