Help shape planning consultation in High Peak

Planning and development in the High Peak is a subject which generates much debate and the Borough Council wants to hear from local people about how they'd like to be involved in consultations.

The Council is now seeking views on its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The document sets out how the Council will engage residents in the development of planning policy and consult them on planning applications.

First adopted in 2006, the SCI has now been updated to take account of recent changes to planning rules relating to consultation.

Council Leader, Councillor Tony Ashton, said: "We know that many residents take an active interest in where they live so we're asking people to tell us how they want the Council to involve them in planning issues.

"This is a good time to tell us your views as the updated Statement of Community Involvement will guide how we involve you in planning policy preparation - including any reviews of High Peak's Local Plan - and how we consult you on the planning applications we receive."

All the information is available to view and download.

Hard copies of the document are available during normal office hours from Buxton Town Hall, Glossop Municipal Buildings and all Borough libraries.

The easiest way to comment is online. You can also email ldf@highpeak.gov.uk or write to Planning Policy, High Peak Borough Council, Town Hall, Buxton, SK17 6EL.

Responses must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 19 December. Our policy on data privacy can also be viewed online.

Once the consultation has closed, the Council will consider the responses received and then amend the SCI as appropriate. The document will then be formally adopted and planning consultations carried out in line with it.
