Changes ahead for recycling small electrical items

Free collections of unwanted small electrical items will now take place fortnightly across the High Peak to provide a reliable service for all residents.

These improvements have been introduced following feedback from residents and collections will now take place on alternate Fridays from 14 June.

Moving forwards, residents just need to book in a collection which can be done by completing a dedicated webform on our website. For those residents without internet access, bookings can be made by contacting the Council directly and help will be provided to place the booking. When the request has been accepted, the items can be placed in the resident's usual collection location on their confirmed date.

Unwanted small electrical items must be smaller than 30cm x 40cm to be suitable for collection. You can find out which items are acceptable and request a collection by visiting www.highpeak.gov.uk/smallelectricals

Jean Todd, Executive Councillor for Climate Change, Environment and Community Safety, said: "We're delighted that so many residents are keen to recycle their small electrical items - so much so that we've introduced these changes to help us manage the volume of items being left out for collection.

"Recycling these items benefits the local and global environment and the changes will mean that we aware of the items booked for collection therefore making them easier for our crews to locate and collect.

"So please don't put the items you no longer want in any of your bins. Just complete the easy online form and we'll do the rest!"
