Swine Flu

The media has been full of news on the global spread of swine flu. In Derbyshire, local councils and health bodies are working closely together to plan to deal with a flu pandemic and make sure essential public services continue for local people.

It’s important not to panic, as this strain of flu appears to be fairly mild and people in the UK who have caught it seem to be making a quick recovery following treatment.

There is lots of reassuring help and advice available on the NHS website (External website**) including hygiene precautions, how to spot flu symptoms and advice about travelling.

More information on Swine Flu can be found by calling the new national freephone recorded helpline on 0800 1 513 513 or by visiting the Directgov website. (External website**)

It’s important for everyone to follow some simple hygiene precautions, which are summarised in the following NHS posters. If you would like to print off these posters to display in your office or building please do so.
