
In 2009-2011, the parnership is aiming to enhance the information for visitors and improve the appearance of pedestrian routes from car parks to the town centre. This includes:
Other actions include the continued support of the May Day event, encouraging independent traders to attend the free retailer training programme in October 2009, and brightening of the town centre with hanging baskets and barrier baskets on the market place.
In 2007-8, new summer flowering baskets on the railings around the Market Place were installed; new tourist information panels were installed at car parks, and tourist information racks were fitted within the town hall; and a mini guide to shops and services in Chapel-en-le-Frith was produced (available from town hall, Tourist information and other local outlets).
In 2008-9, we introduced 18 new street name plates - to help people orientate themselves and find postal addresses. and in partnership with the Parish Council, with funding from the Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnerships Progressive Town fund, updated the popular old town trail, and relayed setts and new curb stones to Terrace Road and Church Brow at the heart of the conservation area.
The Chapel-en-le-Frith Regeneration Partnership was set up in 1996 to help conserve the historic town centre and regenerate the town as "a thriving, prosperous, safe and attractive market town with jobs, homes and facilities for all".
The partnership’s work has included funding physical enhancements - often supported by Conservation grants - as well as initiatives to support the town’s residents and retailers.
