The temporary two-hour free parking scheme, for shoppers in Glossop, will end on Monday, September 1, 2008.
The concession, which was introduced in October 2007, has cost the Council an estimated loss of revenue, exceeding £41,000.
The Council introduced the concession to encourage shoppers and support local businesses, during extensive road works undertaken by the Gas Alliance, and then by the contractors carrying out the Glossop Vision improvements. Car parking charges in the rest of the Borough were not affected.
Notices will be displayed on the car park machines to alert shoppers and visitors that the charges are being reinstated from Monday, September 1, 2008.
Emily Thrane, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Corporate Services, said: "Now that the Glossop Vision work has been completed in the town centre, we will be reinstating the charges in the Council's car parks. The temporary concession was introduced to help protect Glossop's local economy by encouraging shoppers and supporting local businesses."
Note: The lost revenue, from Glossop car parks, as a result of the temporary two-hour free parking scheme, from October 26, 2007, to August 31, 2008 (including an estimate for this month) totals £41,198.
