The Summer Club -- based in Buxton Community School -- benefited from a grant of £500 from High Peak Borough Council's Community Fund Small Grants Pot.

Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, dropped in at the party, to meet some of the club members.

He said: "High Peak Borough Council is very pleased to be able to support the work of the club with this one-off grant. The Small Grants Pot is intended to help voluntary organisations support vulnerable people and provide valuable services to residents."

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tony Bingham, also attended the party.

The Small Grants Pot is available for bids from voluntary organisations that wish to apply for one-off small amounts to support specific projects. The fund will normally consider bids of up to £500 per project.

Full details on how to apply for a grant, and the sort of projects that can be funded, are in the guidance provided with the Community Fund Policy at www.highpeak.gov.uk/neighbourhood/CommunityFund or Call High Peak on 0845 129 7777 for this.

Awards of £500 were given to four voluntary groups in July. The next round of bidding opens on Monday, September 1, 2008.
