Planning Policy Guidance 15 (PPG 15) Planning and the Historic Environment stresses the need for local planning authorities to define and record the special interest, character and appearance of their conservation areas. The existence of a clear definition of an area’s character helps reduce uncertainty for owners and developers and provides a sound basis, defensible on appeal for local plan policies and development control decisions.
Detailed Character Appraisals have been prepared for the following conservation areas.
High Peak Borough Council has recently appointed consultants to undertake Conservation Area Appraisals for both the Charlesworth and Holehouse Conservation Areas.
As part of this review the Council is also proposing to make some changes to the Charlesworth Conservation Area boundary.
The documents and boundary extensions have been subject to public consultation. This finished on the 21 May 2010. You can still view the draft documents by following the links below.
All comments received will be considered and final copies of the character appraisals will be published shortly.
