Electrical collection

This service is for domestic householders only.

How much does it cost to remove electrical items?

We collect large electrical items such as fridges, televisions or washing machines for £30 per item.

If you get housing or council tax benefit the cost is reduced to £15.00 per item.

Unwanted or broken small electrical items are collected for free from beside your black or green lidded bin.

When do electrical collections take place?

Collections of large electrical items are made every other Friday. The next collections will be on 

  • 12 and 26 January
  • 9 and 23 February
  • 9 and 23 March

We can collect

Electric or gas oven
Washing machine or tumble dryer
Fridge or freezer
Microwave (larger than 30x40cm)
Computer and monitor

We can't collect

General furniture - book a Bulky collection as the charges are different
Plaster board
Rubble, bricks, stone or concrete
Soil and garden waste
Garage doors
Radiators or boilers
Toilets, basins, baths
Kitchen cupboards, sinks and worktop
Motorised vehicles or vehicle parts

Household chemicals or DIY waste can be taken to the tip at Melandra Road in Glossop, or Waterswallows Road in Buxton.

Where should I leave my electrical items?

Electrical items are collected separately from other rubbish. Your item(s) should be left at the front of your property at your bin collection point.

If you have a communal collection point, electrical items should be left outside at the front of the property for easy access.

We can't come inside your house or garage to collect items.

How do I book an electrical collection?

The cut off time for booking is 6pm on the Wednesday before the scheduled Friday collection.
