Derbyshire Village Games

Derbyshire Village Games (opens new window) is a community spirited sport project running across rural Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Village Games was awarded the Big Society Award in 2013. The Big Society Awards were created to recognise and celebrate groups and organisations doing exceptional work in their community, going above and beyond to make things better for others.

In its sixth year, Derbyshire Village Games engages over 6,000 people each year in regular sport and physical activity across the county for fun, fitness and friendship.

Village games co ordinators work with over 50 rural villages organising village competitions, festivals and events encouraging people to participate in sport and recreation.

The project is funded and guided by a partnership of 8 District Authorities, Derbyshire County Council and Sport England.
