We will arrange for our dog warden to collect the dog as soon as we can and try to reunite it with its owner. Our dog warden service operates between 8.30am - 3.00pm, Monday - Friday only.
We do not operate an out of hours service.
Stray or roaming dogs
If you see a stray or roaming dog, you can contact us on 0345 129 4870 Monday to Friday. We will arrange for our dog warden to collect the dog as soon as we can.
Our dog warden service operates between 8.30am - 3.00pm, Monday - Friday only. If you find a stray dog after this time, you can take the dog to Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (opens new window). Please call them first so a member of their staff can plan to meet you.
Unclaimed stray dogs
We have a statutory duty to keep the dog in kennels for a period of seven days. If the dog is not claimed after this time, the owner loses all rights to it. The dog is then usually offered for re-homing.
If you find a stray dog which isn't claimed within 7 days, you may be able to keep it. The dog warden will contact you to discuss your legal obligations.
