Grants

There are a number of schemes and grants available that may be able to help you with your fuel bills or to make your home more energy efficient.

Energy Efficiency Grants Programme

High Peak Borough Council, Marches Energy Agency and E.ON have joined forces to install home energy efficiency improvements to properties not connected to the gas network at no cost to the residents. This is to make homes more comfortable to live in, reduce energy bills, and support the national effort to reach Net Zero by 2050.

Warm Home Discount Scheme

You could get £150 off your electricity bill every winter under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Householders are entitled to a one off discount off their winter electricity bill if they are on qualifying benefits or on a low income.

The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

For more information visit www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-scheme or contact your supplier direct to find out the closing date for their applications.

Cold Weather Payment

If you're receiving certain benefits you may be entitled to a Cold Weather Payment. These are different to Winter Fuel Payments and are paid if the average temperature for your area is recorded as or forecast to be zero degrees Celsius below for 7 consecutive days.

For more information visit www.gov.uk/cold-weather-payment

Winter Fuel Payment

If you are aged 65 or over, you may be eligible for a Winter Fuel Payment of between £100 and £300 to help you pay for your heating bills. This is usually an automatic payment but you may need to make a claim.

Energy Grant Calculator

To find out what energy saving improvements can help to make your home more energy efficient, you'll need to know:

  • what kind of measures you already have (eg, insulation or double glazing)
  • a general idea of when your home was built
