Put your High Peak sporting stars in the spotlight

Last weekend's Sports Personality of the Year saw the nation choose it's 2019 sporting heroes - but here in High Peak there's still time to make sure your local favourites get the recognition they deserve!

The High Peak Sports Awards, co-ordinated by High Peak Borough Council in conjunction with the High Peak School Sports Partnership, will take place in March next year and the nominations are now open.

With awards for individuals, teams, coaches and volunteers who live, study or work in the Borough there's a category to recognise sporting achievement across the spectrum.

Anyone can make a nomination and the closing date is 12 January 2020.

Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Leisure, said: "The High Peak has a strong track record of sporting achievement and the appeal of sport remains as strong as ever in our communities. We want to celebrate that commitment and dedication at our annual awards.

"So if you know someone, or a team of people, who deserve to have their successes highlighted, please nominate them. It's easy - all you need to do is complete the short form on our website."

There's more information, including details of all the categories at www.highpeak.gov.uk/High-Peak-Annual-Sports-Awards and you can also download the nomination form for completion if you're unable to complete it online.
