Extra Household Waste

You are legally responsible for any household waste produced on your property. If you have more than can fit in your bins, you have a duty of care to dispose of it correctly, whether at a local tip or through an approved waste carrier.

We offer a bulky and large electrical item collection if you have a few items which are too big for you to take to the tip.

If you employ someone to dispose of your waste and it ends up fly-tipped you are still legally responsible and can receive a fine if you cannot show that you took reasonable steps to prevent it being dumped.

You can check if a waste carrier is registered on the public register of waste carriers, or by calling the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506.

Top Tips

  1. Always ask for their waste carrier number so you can check they are registered.
  2. Always ask what exactly is going to happen to your waste. You could also ask for evidence that it is going to be disposed of properly.
  3. Always get a proper invoice and receipt for your waste. You can keep this as proof of who you booked.

Additional recycling waste

If you have any additional material for recycling please put it next to your bin in a cardboard box or untied black bags on your recycling collection day.

Tied bags will not be collected as we can't see what is inside to make sure there is nothing that we don't accept for recycling.
