Bulky collection

This service is for domestic householders only.

Is your furniture still usable?

Glossopdale Furniture Project collect unwanted furniture free of charge, they are a voluntary group helping people on low incomes to buy furniture.
Visit  Glossopdale Furniture Project if you think your unwanted furniture could be used by someone else.

If your item is not suitable to be reused, we offer a bulky collection service.

Bulky collection service charges

Collection for up to 4 items costs £23.00

Extra items cost £4.20 each (up to a total of 9 items)

If you get council tax or housing benefit the costs are reduced to £11.50 for up to 4 items and £2.10 per additional item.

Contact us to book an assessment visit so we can quote if you have more than 10 items or your items are very large or bulky.

There is a small chance we may not be able to collect your item if it is large or heavy. We can't collect anything longer than 1.83m (6 foot) as it will not fit inside the refuse freighter.

We can collect crushable

  • armchairs (excluding items with a reclining function)
  • mattresses
  • bed bases
  • wooden shelves
  • wooden tables and chairs
  • bedroom furniture e.g. wardrobes, dressing tables

We will contact you if there are any problems with a collection. Refunds are offered if we are unable to collect an item.

We can't collect

  • electrical items - please book a separate Electrical collection
  • items with glass parts - display cupboards or glass tabletops
  • extra large items (anything longer than 1.83m or 6 foot)
  • paint
  • plaster board

Where should I leave my bulky items and when will they be collected?

We collect bulky (non electrical) items with the same vehicle that empties your black bin.
Items should be left at your bin collection point, on the same day as your black bin collection.

We are unable to collect your items if you can't present them at your bin collection point.

If you have a communal bin collection point, items should be left at the front of your property for easy access.

We can't come inside your house or garage to collect items.
