Festive free parking boost for shoppers and businesses
Parking will be free again this year on every Saturday in December in all Borough Council car parks to support shoppers and businesses in the busy build-up to Christmas and the New Year.
The Council is offering free parking in its pay and display car parks on Saturdays 7, 14, 21 and 28 December to encourage people to support local businesses and shop local.
Parking will also be free in Buxton on Saturday 16 November; in Glossop on Saturday 23 November; and in New Mills on Saturday 30 November for the Christmas lights switch-on events.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "The festive season is fast approaching and we know that offering free parking is always welcomed by our residents and visitors and gives our businesses and seasonal events a boost. So I'm delighted to announce that we'll be providing that again this year.
"The High Peak has a wealth of shops, restaurants and visitor attractions and the festive season is a very important period for them. We hope the added bonus of free parking will encourage more people to make our Borough their first choice for buying gifts and treats and socialising with family and friends this year."
Whilst parking is free, other regulations, such as how long you can park for, will apply.
