MyActive New Mills - have your say on investment plans

Proposals for significant investment in MyActive New Mills are set to be unveiled this week - and the Council wants to hear your views on the options.

The Council has worked with architects and specialist contractors to refine proposals for improvements at the leisure centre following some initial engagement with specific user groups and local councillors earlier this year.

Public consultation on the potential designs starts on Friday 29 November and will run for six weeks ending on Friday 10 January. A drop-in session is taking place at New Mills Town Hall on Tuesday 3 December where people can call in any time between 4pm and 7pm to view the plans and make comments.

Plans will also be available on the Council's website together with the consultation survey for people to complete. Display boards will be installed in the swimming pool viewing area at MyActive New Mills.

Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "This Council has been clear about the strength of its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of all our residents. Our leisure centres are at the heart of our plans which is why we've set up a new wholly Council-owned company to run and manage the centres and the services they provide to the community in High Peak.

"It's also why we're proposing to make significant investment into facilities at MyActive New Mills at time when many other councils are reducing spending or even closing centres.

"I'm delighted to be able to share options for potential investment with everyone and invite people to share their views and thoughts with us before we make any decisions.

"So please, join us at the drop-in session or take a look at the website and complete the survey when the consultation goes live in a few days. We look forward to hearing from you."
