Green energy project at MyActive New Mills set to start
Work on a project to reduce the carbon footprint at MyActive New Mills is set to start next week.

High Peak Borough Council secured grant funding of £587,000 from Sport England to install a range of photovoltaic panels on areas of the leisure centre roof and to upgrade some plant room equipment to enable the building to operate more efficiently.
Contractors carrying out the work will be setting up their compound from Monday 3 March on the car park adjacent to the swimming pool. This means that the car park will be closed until around mid-June whilst the work is carried out.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "This important project will reduce the carbon emissions at the leisure centre and make a significant contribution to our net zero target. So I'm pleased that we're now getting underway.
"The contractors will be on site from next week and I would ask people visiting the centre to bear this in mind when planning their visits. I'd also like to thank people in advance for their patience and co-operation whilst these essential works take place.
"Together with our colleagues at MyActive and the contractor, we'll be working with customers and local businesses to keep any future disruption to a minimum."
The Council is also considering the options for potential further significant improvements at the centre and has consulted on proposals. The feedback received is now being considered before a final decision is made.
