Paper

We can only recycle...

  • newspapers and supplements
  • magazines, brochures and catalogues
  • white paper (e.g. office / computer paper and letters)
  • telephone directories
  • leaflets and flyers
  • envelopes (including ones with windows)
  • shredded paper

Please remember

  • remove any plastic wrapping and free gifts from newspapers, magazines, flyers and put in your general rubbish bin
  • paper is one of the most valuable recyclable materials - but only when it is clean

We can't recycle...

  • paper stained or made dirty with food, grease, paint or dirt
    - once soiled with grease, paper can't be recycled because the fibres can't be separated from the oils in the recycling process
  • hygiene or sanitary products (i.e. nappies, wipes or sanitary towels)
  • used paper towels
  • tissues
  • cotton wool or make up pads
  • baby wipes
  • sticky papers (e.g. Post-it notes, sticky labels or tape)
  • non paper gift wrap (e.g. foil based gift wrap) or bags
  • crisp packets or sweet wrappers
  • wallpaper
  • books - books in good condition can be donated locally to a charity shop
