Key holder registration scheme

The Key Holder Registration scheme is for any domestic, commercial or industrial property where there is an intruder alarm.

What is the Key Holder Registration Scheme?

The Key Holder Registration scheme is for any domestic, commercial or industrial property where there is an intruder alarm.

Our Scheme allows households and businesses to register the details of people who have the keys to the premises to enable the alarm to be switched off in the absence of the occupier or owner.

Why do I need to register?

We get many complaints every year about domestic and business alarms sounding.  Most of these are about alarms going off when they shouldn't be. When these cause a nuisance, an Environmental Health Officer has to enter the premises and disable an audible alarm that is causing a nuisance to neighbouring premises.

If we have to take formal action this often results in the owner or occupier being sent a bill for several hundred pounds to cover the cost of officer time, locksmith, alarm engineer, securing the premises when we leave and the cost of a warrant.

This formal action will only take place where a noise nuisance was occurring and the key holder could not be found.

If you let us know who your key holders are, we can contact them for you and get your alarm turned off without it costing you anything.
