What is ground rent?

Because leasehold is a tenancy, it is subject to the payment of a rent to the landlord. This is usually a small amount and, in High Peak Borough Council's case, it is £10 per annum. This should not be confused with rents paid by tenants under a periodic tenancy which are completely different. Ground rent is a specific requirement of the lease and must be paid on the due date, subject to the issue of a formal and specific demand by the High Peak Borough Council.
