Burials
How much does a burial cost?
We own four cemeteries in the High Peak, our cemetery services are administered by Alliance Environmental Services who work in partnership with Cheshire East Council.
Charges for burials in one of our 4 cemeteries (Buxton, Glossop, Hope and Thornsett) can be found in our list of High Peak Cemetery Fees (PDF, 258 KB) (opens new window).
Arranging a burial at one of our cemeteries
If you have appointed a funeral director, they will contact us on your behalf.
If you are organising the funeral, you can give us the information we need to make a provisional booking and we will contact you to confirm the arrangements.
If your enquiry is about a child's burial, please and contact us to discuss the options further.
Occasionally we are required to organise the burial of a person who dies in the High Peak with no one else to make the arrangements. This is known as a council burial.
If you have any other general enquiries about burials in the High Peak, please contact us.
Financial support for next of kin:
If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to a one off funeral payment to cover the costs of the funeral from the Department for Work and Pensions.
